Types of Opportunities Available

Customer Service – Greet customers and assist them if they need any help. Offer our thanks to them for supporting our efforts by shopping in the stores. Assist with unloading donations that customers drop off and placing them in the donation bins. Give donators a completed tax receipt. Assist cashier with bagging as needed as well as assisting customers with taking purchased items to their car as needed. Assist with sweeping and mopping of the floors. Keeping the front of the store organized and clean.

Sales Floor - Hanging new clothes onto racks, removing older items that have not sold into bags and boxes as these items are recycled and not thrown away. Ensure that clothes are arranged neatly and that all have a price tag. Assist with cleaning shelves and arranging items on shelves. Assist with polishing furniture and arranging it so that compliments the items for sale.

Driver Helpers – This requires heavy lifting in excess of 50 pounds and 6 - 8 hours at a time. This person would ride with our driver on a predetermined route to pick up donations from customers homes and businesses. Donations include clothing/shoes, household items and furniture. Assist the driver with completing tax receipts for donators. Assistance with offloading the truck at the store is optional. Drivers leave out in the mornings by 8:30am and usually returns between 2:30pm to 4:30pm.

Phone Surveys – We pickup donations everyday on our trucks. The phone surveyor will call the people that donated to thank them and ask them if the service meet their expectations. Verify that they received their tax receipt and forward them to management if they have a complaint. A predetermined script will be provided to you to use on the phone.

Recognition

Annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon - All volunteers are invited to the Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon held every June. Awards and certificates are given for special services or for attaining a set amount of volunteer hours.

Defined Job Responsibilities

We have clear and detailed job descriptions for each volunteer opportunity so you will know exactly what is entailed.

Flexibility

We offer flexibility in our schedules to work in as small as two-hour increments anytime from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. Drop-in volunteers are also welcomed.

Contact

Volunteer administrator is easy to reach and has an open door policy. A contact list is provided to you upon registering to volunteer. Quarterly newsletters are published to keep you informed of what is going on with the stores and various programs we support.

Time Tracking and Record-Keeping

We track volunteer hours through an automated time clock system. We regularly report these hours as mandated by type of volunteer program. You will receive a monthly report of your hours to keep for your records.
